Collection: Childhood Series

"My Childhood Series" captures my summertime memories spent holidaying on the rugged west coast of Ireland, now rendered in a naive and stylized manner. The textured landscapes and high horizon lines reflect a child's perspective where everything appears vast and grand. Embracing the boundless imagination of youth, the colours in these works skew towards a child's vivid perception rather than strict realism.

One of my distinct memories was my mother's infatuation with whitewashed thatched cottages. We often stopped our car to admire these quaint buildings, usually found in isolated settings. This recurring motif of solitary buildings weaving through an expansive landscape is central to my artwork.

Over time, this series has evolved to include a variety of different buildings, ranging from vernacular architecture to personal homes of people. Each piece in the series holds a unique place in my heart, acting as a narrative of a simpler time. The horizon lines vary, capturing the infinite possibilities as seen through the eyes of a child, making every artwork a nostalgic journey that can touch viewers while adding a distinct touch to anyone's collection.
