About Me

Hi folks, it’s Paula here and I’m delighted you have taken the time to check out my page.

I’m the face behind the work. I’m a mummy of two boys, Brenainn and Connla, wife to Fearghal, a secondary school Art teacher and more recently a painter who as of June 30th will be on a career break. I hail from Armagh originally but now live just outside Omagh in Northern Ireland(I fell for a Tyrone man).

A few years ago I was looking for a large piece of Art for my living room but printed canvases weren’t cutting it and originals were well out of my budget (remember I’m a teacher!). So I picked up a canvas and some paints and got to work. Even though I teach Art for a living, I hadn’t painted myself in years. Turns out I really didn’t mind what I produced that much, so it made the wall.

Fast forward a year or two, Lockdown happened (albeit the end of the second one; I was a bit slow off the mark), it coupled with some ‘life stuff’ were the catalysts to again pick up a paintbrush and start to play, create and ultimately act as a distraction from what was going on around me. I then tentatively posted my first piece onto a faceless Instagram and I’ve caught the painting bug ever since.

My work fluctuates between a few different styles and for now, I am happy to go with it. I love a muted moody piece, as much as I love a textural colourful piece. I think there is room for it all at the min, as everything is fresh and exciting for me and I don’t want to curtail what I feel like doing on any given day.

I now work from my home studio at the foot of the Gortin Glen in Tyrone and paint a selection of readymade work and commission based work. I currently supply work to both 2020art and Omagh Craft Collective but I mainly deal directly with my customers. If in the area, you are more than welcome to make an appointment to visit my studio. In terms of selling my work, my hope is to make original artwork and bespoke commissions affordable. Have a look through my work and see what you think, I am always interested in feedback.
